A recipient already?

Well alot has happened over the past week. I finally got my call back from IVF Australia, and it seem in NSW you can no longer anonymously donate your eggs, you need to find a couple and then approach a clinic. In an information pack that IVF Australia sent me there was a link for the Aussie Egg Donor Forum, which is a forum for women who are currently going through IVF, considering becoming an Egg Donor or are looking for an Egg Donor. Through posting on this site, I think I have found a wonderful couple. We are currently in the process of emailing each other and getting to know one another.

I'm so excited! For anyone that is interested in checking out the Aussie Egg Donor Forum, simply click on the link below:

What to do with the leftover eggs?

After a recent pregnancy scare, the question of do I want any further children came up. It's hard to look at the child you already have and then decide the fate of all the little eggs waiting to be fertilised in your womb. However, looking at my daughter I realised my life is perfect and to have another child I would be shaking up the perfect world that I adore so much.

Unfortunately, I have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and it seems that female contraception doesn't work for me and just throws my body more out of whack than usual so to ensure that my partner and I are not faced with an accidental pregnancy that will begin with the question of do we keep or terminate we thought it would be best to take one of our fertile bodies out of the picture. We then sat down and started to discuss what our options are: Vasectomy vs. Tubal Sterlisation.

And then it occurred to me after doing much research on Tubal Sterlisation, isn't it kind of wasteful for my body to absorb all of those eggs when I could be giving them to a woman who's only chance of having a child is receiving a donor egg?

** I do need to say just for the benefit of everyone reading this blog, in Australia it is illegal to sell eggs or sperm, there is no money in this for me to make. In the U.S it is big business to sell your eggs, here in Australia nobody does it because there is no monetary kick back, we have a severe shortage of eggs and sperm being donated**

With all of these thoughts in my head, I called two of Sydney's leading IVF Clinics, Sydney IVF and IVF Australia. After firstly speaking to Sydney IVF I found out that through them I couldn't donate my eggs anonymously - unfortunately this is a pre-requisite for me as I do not wish to be involved in someone elses life, nor later be involved in the childs life. However, they were extremely helpful and offered alot of information regarding what my options as a donor are. I then called IVF Australia who were also extremely helpful and also it sounded a little shocked that a random person would be offering their eggs. After a brief conversation the person I needed to speak to wasn't available and would be calling me back the next day.

Today's the next day, so i'll let you all know how the conversation goes!
